Niimaar official recycling partner at Metsä Pavillion Tokyo Expo & 2021 Olympics

Ecogrande Recycling Station wins two prestigious German Design Awards 2021

Finnish sustainable design brand Niimaar launched its new Ecogrande Recycling Station in Spring 2020 to immediate industry acclaim, with two awards from German Design Council. Niimaar is awarded in two categories of Excellent Public Design and Excellent Eco Design.

Speaking of the news, Enni Karikoski, Niimaar founder and CEO said:

“As a small team, we’re eager to bring dynamic and sustainable designs with a uniquely Finnish twist for quality and function. We seek to embody these qualities, which Harri Koskinen does so magnificently. As such we cannot easily express our deep gratitude to the German Design Council for their recognition of our sustainable design mission, and Ecogrande, which they so generously reward us. As part of Niimaar’s mission to bring sustainable thinking to more business and homes, founder Enni Karikoski has been active with online webinars and talks and events including a recent -social distance -meetup at Helsinki Design Week in September 2020. Enni has in 2019 also published her book Zero Waste Society detailing herpersonal journey and manifesto towards an increasingly sustainable approach to the issues affecting our world today.

In addition to winning these German Design Awards, Niimaar confirms it is part of a select Business Finland showcase pavilion which is built in the grounds of the Finnish Embassy in Tokyo, where it’s Ecogrande and Ecosmol products will be in use and on show for all to engage and interact with over the eighteen months of the expo.

Any room, any era, any purpose

The business and office edition of the flagship Ecosmol, Ecograde is intended to bring the trademark versatility and flexibility to any cafe, hotel or office space. Not least with Niimaar’s ‘Any room, any Era, Any purpose’ ethos. All designs and materials being 100% Finnish and by multi-award winning Harri Koskinen.

Niimaar will formally receive its’awards at a special setting at the award ceremony due to be held in February 2021. With special mentions for both awards, Ecogrande is recognized for addressing modern day challenges of creating timeless yet contemporary designs which fit the modern home and business need to recycle in a fashionable and functional manner.

An active founder of Helsinki and Barcelona coastal ‘plogging’ cleanups, in which participants run and walk and pick plastic trash along the way, Enni is a regular on the weekly cleanups with volunteer talks to local schools and kindergartens. All volunteer run and whilst juggling a small business and family.
