The various possibilities of reuse
What is the most practical and best product that you use again and again? Is it something of high quality that will last a long time, or maybe you’ve already had to get a new one? The reuse of various goods requires high-quality and durable features. In following text, our guest author Natalia Buchert reflects the possibilities of reusable products.

You may have heard of the term Circular Economy. It sounds like recycling, but it is an economic model that contains versatile business opportunities. In a Circular Economy, the value of a product is at its best when it is reused as it is. As an example, think about the Ecosmol sorting furniture, which can be used to recycle, but you can also sit or write on it — various possibilities use it for different purposes. However, not all our goods serve our needs throughout life. Unfortunately, many unnecessary items become waste, even if there are opportunities for
reuse.
So what are the possibilities of reusing no longer necessary goods? Many people donate their unnecessary things for others to use. Unnecessary goods can also be sold either by yourself or with the help of a marketplace or a company. In sales transactions, money exchanges and it becomes a business. In the best case, a quality product can be sold again and again, generating more cash flow. Renting out goods is also an example of a business where you get continuous income from the product. Unsuitable products, such as clothes, can also be modified to be more suitable without the entire garment being recycled or wasted.

The reuse of goods has diverse possibilities for people other than its first owner. However, the first-time owner plays an important role in their purchase choice. We make a lot of purchase choices and certainly even more so during the different seasonal peaks. We want to give a few considerations for buyers out there: Is the product long- lasting enough for high use? Is the product such good quality and timeless design that someone else would still use it years from now? Is the item of such high quality that it is already second hand and still usable?

Natalia Buchert is an MBA on Leading Sustainable Growth who has studied the business opportunities of the circular economy. In her opinion, the possibilities of reuse are not yet recognized widely enough, even though it would help the goods retain their value and, in the best case, serve as an additional source of income. At the same time, the environmental emissions of producing new goods and the waste of throwing away useless ones would be saved.
